Any music store that sells guitars has picks. usually close to where you pay for everything.

There are tons of music sites to get picks from, for instance there is: http://www.music123.com/ , http://musician.com/ , http://musiciansfriend.com/ , http://www.zzounds.com/ , http://samash.com/ , and a ton of others. You just need to know what kind of picks to buy for your friend, and depending on the amount you get, normally from a pack of 12 to a pack of 72, you will be dishing out about $3 to $18 respectively. You can also go to a local shop as Valoosj said and get picks for anywhere from $ .20 to $ .50 a piece. This is a good option when you want to buy several styles of picks to try out. I would suggest getting some Dunlop Tortex picks or some Everly Star picks. I would suggest getting either .88mm or 1.14mm picks due to the fact that they are comfortable and allow for fast picking if that is part of your style. You could also get some 1.0mm's, but I think they are kind of a turd myself, but that is just my whole view on the situation.

I just never can get a good grip on those sons of bitches. They always feel like they slip a lot in my hands. I started carving x's into all my picks because I saw that Dimebag did that to get a good grip and it still never really worked with the 1.0mm's and me so I stuck with the step up in size, the 1.14mm's. Then I started using Everly Star picks because they have the little grip thing and now things are perfect.

On e bay you can get some pick collections consisting of about 8 with bands pictures on them and I was surprised when they actually played well. They were pretty pricey though I think I paid 20 dollars australian for my Pearl Jam set.
