I'm thinking about a DEQ and some new trackmarks, but I think I'm too lazy to reseed it..

I would perfer that you do that for your own personal copy only. Please don't alter the original file and reseed it....have some respect for the person who taped it. But if you must do it make sure that you identify ANY changes that you made on the original recording (other than fade in/fade out) that will change the sound spectrum.

I can understand why some people want to mix the sound to fit their own musical taste by I'll never know why they want to pass it on to others. That's a main reason why I have so many uncirculated shows over the last 21 years..... somebody wants to be *insert big name record producer's name here* and fuck with the original recording. It didn't work for ZZ Top or Ozzy Osbourne and it will rarely work for anybody else.

If you really want tapers to stop hoarding tapes then
    "DON'T FUCK WITH THEM!"

    Re: Chicago 2006-05-21 Torrent

    I understand your concern...

I was just referring to standard formats for seeding shows as torrents. I've mastered about 30 uncirculated AIC/Cantrell shows from low gen or master analog/DAT tapes so people could listen to them in a digital format. And unless you're patching into a soundboard, the recording will need some kind of "normalizing" before everyone else listens to it and likes it. And with standalone CD recorders, there's no second chance to make good trackmarks (had to get an M-Audio DiO soundcard to x-fer from DAT).

I think the whole concept of "hoarding tapes" is a myth... Seems to be common among '70's-90's tapers. When I could afford to tape, I did it with the intention to seed/distribute everything freely and not let it sit on the shelf forever.

Jerry Depot? Probably not.. Looks like the guy Nate who hosted it got rid of the whole account, and he was always really busy so I didn't bug him about it. On the flipside I've been really busy too and couldn't update it enough for it to be original, besides there are a lot of good media now that spread good multimedia and news, so the site would be pretty redundant now (except for the old archived stuff).
