AKA the Degradation Trip Tour :D

Which show was it? Can you remember the setlist, or any fond memories of the show? :D

Any pix you want to share, too?

Yep, July 20th, 2001. Birch Hill Nite Club...Old Bridge, NJ....Great show, Swarm and MRV opened...was hoping CWTF was gonna be there......all in all a great show...5 years later the setlist is a blur..I was a bout 4 people back and dead center, small venue...Could only see Jerry(from the mid-chest up) mainly due to the unusual # off tall people in the first three rows(and i'm 5' 11").....some guy was throwing punches right to the left of me, was escorted out, and came back.....and a chick with large breasts was crowd surfing up front stage left- Jerry watched that show...lol....Those are my main memories..the guys from swarm were there signed a ticket for me..they were very cool...MRV...I think I remembered their name right reminded me a bit of Primus. Sorry no pics.... only memories...All there seemed to have a great time...high energy when Jerry and co. came out :!:

Caught the Philly gig in '02 near the end of the tour. Comes With The Fall opened, two lame bands played, and then there was Jerry. Loudest show I've ever seen, outdoor venue loud in a small indoor club. I've got a review written up on another computer. The set was something like: Psychotic Break, Bargain Basement Howard Hughes, Castaway, Hellbound, My Song, Cut You In, Angel Eyes, Anger Rising, Got Me Wrong, Angry Chair, Man In The Box. And the all Alice, three song encore was: Down In A Hole, Rain When I Die, and Them Bones. An all too short 80 minutes of ear shattering bliss.

Would have loved to have heard What The Hell Have I, Gone, Solitude, Devil By My Side, No Excuses, Spiderbite, or It Ain't Like That. Wish I could have caught an '01 gig, that would have knocked some of those off the wishlist.

Yeah, but you got 2 Boggy songs.....some people would have killed for that....

I wish more people had gotten to hear Spiderbite live too....

2001 was a cool year to see a Cantrell solo show.....I think it was actually fun for him.....

Re: Who saw Jerry back in 2001 &/or 2002?

I've lurked on this board for a pretty long time, and figured I'd chime in here since I saw Cantrell 3 times over that period.

The first show was at The Rave in Milwaukee in May of 2001. There were two openers - I know one of them was MIRV. It was the first time I'd ever seen Cantrell. I remember him opening up with Angry Chair and the crowd went crazy. I couldn't believe how good they sounded live. I can't remember the setlist, but it was mostly AIC. There were a few Boggy Depot songs too, and a few songs that I'd never heard, which of course turned out to be DT songs. It was a great show.

The second show was at Summerfest in Milwaukee, when he was opening for Nickelback and William was playing/singing with him. He opened up with Psychotic Break and Bargain Basement Howard Hughes. Again, don't remember the setlist, but I remember him playing Heaven Beside You and saying that they hadn't played that song in a really long time live. Other songs were Them Bones and Man In the Box. And maybe No Excuses. Tommy Lee was scheduled to play at another Summerfest stage at 10, and he came on to play drums for Man In The Box. I'm not really much of a Tommy Lee or Motley Crue fan, but it was cool to see and it really got the crowd going. And by this point it was about 9:30, so I thought that it was cool that Tommy Lee would come play and then have to run across the fairgrounds to make it to his show. Overall, another great show.

The last show I saw over that period was in Minneapolis at The Quest Club. He was the headliner at this one, with CWTF opening. CWTF were great, and I was really impressed with William's singing and their overall sound. Cantrell played almost the entire DT album at first, and then broke into AIC songs. At one point it got kind of interesting, because apparently someone spit on Jerry from the balcony, which he was none too pleased with. He called the person out and was visibly very pissed off. Then they broke into a pissed off version of It Aint Like that, which was awesome.

So pretty much 3 great shows. Glad to see that they're out touring again, and hoping to catch them at some point on this round. And as everyone else probably is, really hoping that Jerry's solo material see the light of day SOON!

Re: Who saw Jerry back in 2001 &/or 2002?

I hardly ever post here anymore, but yeah, I saw Jerry three times in 2002. The first was Cincinnati, either August 26, or 27, I can't remember the date, though I know I have the ticket stub still. They were opening for Creed, so the set was abbreviated, but it kicked ass. A couple of Alice songs and some DT stuff. Jerry threw lots of water on the crowd, lol. I remember him imploring people to stand up because "this is a fucking rock n roll show." Of course, I was already standing and I got some weird looks from people in my row, who obviously weren't AIC or Jerry fans, haha. Then a bunch of guys behind me started a Jerry chant and I happily joined in. I had never seen AIC or Jerry, so this was a fucking treat for me, even though it was short.

The second time was Nov. 4, at the fucking awesome Webster Theater in Hartford, CT. That's where I got seriously turned on by CWTF. I don't remember all the setlists, but I know we got Devil by His Side, which was fucking great. Plus, there was one point during the encore when William and Jerry did this improvisational blues jam that totally kicked ass. I also got a pick from this show, which is taped to the Reader's Digest version of Degradation Trip :). I also remember Jerry being quite grateful to the crowd. He said something like, Hartford's always been good to Alice.

The third time was the craziest of the three shows, hehe. It was the Philly show, Nov. 9. I was on the rail for this and it was insane. It was so fucking loud, but totally awesome. We got Rain When I Die, which had been played the night before in NYC for the first time in many years. I had heard it during sound check and was so hoping they'd do it. I about jumped the rail at that point, hehe. I remember Hellbound being especially kick-ass! Jerry was plucking off the guitar strings at the end of the song. It was bad-ass! I got kicked and slammed and pushed and it was crazy with the crowd surfers going over my head, but man, it was one rockin' show! I was euphoric after those two shows so close together. Jerry also remarked on the size of the crowd and thanked people for coming out. It ranks in my top 10 all-time shows.

Re: Who saw Jerry back in 2001 &/or 2002?

Went to the 6/22/02 show when he was w/Nickelback. I was having a really bad day but tried to enjoy the show anyway. Jerry laid right down on stage in front of me :D (I do remember that much) Met William and Jerry after the show. (that was the best part) They both were nice and gentlemen(of course).

Also went to the 8/31/02 show when he was w/Creed. Jerry was great even though I sat further back. CREED sucked that night!!

Re: Who saw Jerry back in 2001 &/or 2002?

I saw the show at Avalon in Boston in 2002. Comes with the fall, mad at gravity, utopia and Jerry were all on the bill.

All in all, it was a kickass show. All the bands were great but Jerry didn't get much stage time at all. I think he played 12 songs or so, more than half of those being Alice songs. If I remember correctly, he played Psychotic Break, Bargain basement Howard Hughes, Hellbound, Anger Rising and Cut you in. The rest were Alice songs, mostly from dirt as well as It ain't like that and Man in the box.

Fond memories include getting a closer look at Jerry's guitars before the show and drooling over them. Comes with the fall kicked so much ass it wasn't even funny. Mad at gravity had catchy songs. Utopia were talented musicians, great heavy music. Jerry looked pissed off and didn't talk much, which is kind of a shame, but the show was still great and the band was tight.

Re: Who saw Jerry back in 2001 &/or 2002?

I saw him in Ithica NY and it was a great show. He had been sick the past couple shows in the midwest and I heard they were not great shows so I was nervous. He was in great spirits though. I remember he played alot of D-Trip the only song from boggy he played was Cut You In and Leave Me Alone. He played a handful of alice songs with William on the mic too. It was a great show.

I remember EIW being jealous, too, as that is one of her favorite songs. LOL at paige taking off her boots. She's lucky somebody didn't stomp on her feet or anything :D.
