    ceojc:
There are 13 new Jerry songs demoed and he is writing constantly - aiming for a release in the fall. The music is varried - hard rock, some classic Jerry sounds, and a little country twang thrown into the mix. This album really will be a mind-blowing creative showcase.

The songs you have been talking about from teh Kid Rock tour are being considered part of the tracklisting for the new album.

very cool......i hope he has tour plans afterwards......east coast included......

So after 8 months, have we heard anything at all about the supposed new album? Someone needs to track him down at the AC show and ask him what's up. Let him know there is an interest in some new material, and not just a cover band, and an occasional nostalgia act.

Re: Ok, Jerry, we're ready for the new stuff now

Speaking of covers, it would be nice to see Jerry lay down a studio version of Brain Damage/Eclipse for this "new album". Rather than a hefty double album, make it a consice 45 minutes to an hour in length. As much as I love DT, it is a tough album to digest completely. Keep it somewhat accessable too. The complex tunes and dark vibes are nice, but he's gonna have to spice things up a bit to get a buzz going. One or two Spiderbites, and plenty of Anger Risings and Hellbounds with a handful of Gones and 31-32s for flavor. Maybe 10 - 12 originals, and then close out with the Floyd cover.

The big thing is to also play longer than 80 minutes when promoting the album. Fairweather fans may be showing up for the AIC stuff, so pepper the set with those. Probably better to mix it up like on the Boggy tour and the '01 tour, as opposed to playing them all at the end like on the end of the DT tour. The natives got a little too restless that way. Jerry's got such a rich and varried catalog. When picking a set, don't burry the back catalog. If he doesn't play anything but Anger Rising from DT, then new people will be less likely to explore that part of his catalog. Play Anger Rising and Gone one night, play Howard and What It Takes another, and then maybe some Hellbound and Angel Eyes. There are still 14 songs from Degredation Trip that have know none live airings. Dust one or two of those off every now and again. It's all about variety and self promotion, because if Jerry doesn't push his back catalog on stage, where else will it get any exposure? People may come for the AIC tunes, so use them to build exposure to his solo work. Mixing things up with the older material, while playing a more fixed set of new cuts to promote the album would be a win - win scenario for him. Oh wait, so far there is no evidence of an album or tour. Kind of makes all of this moot. Jerry where are you?

....more than just one or two Spiderbites ~ that whole vibe of that song was an album's worth.....

....yeah, I've been saying the exact thing for years now....

I was at the very first show in 01, when he dug into Deg Trip for a larger chunk of the show....I think it caught the majority of the crowd by surprise to hear new songs & how good they were....unfortunately the largest response came for the AIC songs & I think it sent the wrong impression to Jerry.....

If & when Jerry ever does tour as a solo act again, I hope he considers all you just said, Ziggy.....

No doubt. To me Spiderbite is the track to use if someone would ask what DT is like. It has the brutally heavy parts, and the quieter parts, the complex time changes, and the dark vibe. Like Jerry once said, it wears many hats. It's far from accessable though. While one or two epic tracks are always nice, his next album should have some more melodic stuff with hooks (ala Hellbound, Anger Rising, and the AIC stuff), to help rebuild and refocus his fan base. It's a fine line to tread though. Most of all, I just want him to put out some new tunes. Weather it's a solo album, or an AIC mark III album with Kinney, Inez, and ???. He's too great of a songwriter and performer to just do the occasional cover band gig or AIC reunion gig for charity.

Re: Ok, Jerry, we're ready for the new stuff now

Listen I have never read any of this post before, I just read all six pages today and I am extremely pumped now that I read it. How the hell do we tell him that we need his album in a week? I seriously need a new Jerry album right now. Ever since I got into Alice in Chains, they were and are my favorite band, but Jerry's solo shit is not far behind. Please Mr. Cantrell, release the damn thing.

Well, the announcement yesterday kinda blows the solo thing out of the water for now...
