Also, one last thing at both shows Beaven and William were walking around all over the place and getting beer from the bar, but so many people don't know their music that they didn't even pay attention to them. I knew who they were, so also PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS there are usually musicians walking around right in front of your face .
OMG, someone finally pointed that out  It's astounding how clueless people at shows are, and myself included because I have stood next to & even talked to some "famous people" & I had no clue who they were   .......altho back then, Bevan & William & Adam use to get a kick out of walking around the crowd & nobody would recognize them ~ it was like their own personal secret-joke on the audience......then get up on stage & look out at all the  going off in the crowd......
Towards the end, that got harder to do, tho  8)

oh nature you just reminded me of this time when I was hanging out at the beach and this guy was standing next to me, we were both looking at these girls in front of a hotel and I thought there was probably someone famous staying there... The guy and I were there staring at them for like 10 minutes, because the girls were screaming and shit... then suddenly they look at us and start running towards me and the guy  ... well, it turned out he was the guitar player for Marillion and I had no clue. I was there standing next to him the whole entire time   He looked at me and gave me a smile, then turned and started doing the signing shit

I was standing outside of the Key Club after a Cantrell show in L.A., with MusicBankChristy's sister Barb...and this guy comes out & starts talking to us, & Barb's talking & talking to him & I'm just standing there smoking ~ it was mostly small talk but he was a real nice guy.....& all of a sudden this group of girls near the street start screaming & running towards us by the door & this guy says "Thanks, it's been nice, I gotta go" & he takes off nearly running in the opposite direction of this herd of girls...and I say to Barb, what's that all about  & she looks at me like I was a complete dumbass & says "Don't you know who that was?" & I said no, who is he? & she said "That's Eric Kretz :!: "....and I just stand there looking at her, still clueless.....and she said "You know, the DRUMMER OF STP?!" & I was like "Oh  *long pause* I guess that explains all the screaming women, huh? " 8)

   & he was probably at the height of his popularity then
Jerry comes out of being in the shadows a couple of years, and does his first Deg Trip show in San Francisco, Jan. of 01....I'm ouside the venue handling out "Jerry Cantrell Rock God" stickers to everyone in sight...they were plastered all along the wall of the venue, too, and we got in trouble for that LOL.....so I go up to this exotic looking guy just standing there, leaning on the wall smoking, & smile & say "Here have a sticker" & he looks at me all amused & says "I'm in Jerry's band." & I was instantly  ~ ~ my first time meeting Adam Stanger   (who still teases me about that every now & then)......
And I've stood next to Les Claypool a few times & never had a clue who he was either
& then there's the ones you don't care if you missed
Foof, and I and about 4 or 5 other board people were standing outside a venue waiting for Jerry to come out, and the door opens & this short guy comes out, walks down the steps, goes right by us & down the alley....and somebody says a few minutes later "Hey, wasn't that Lars?" & someone else says "Yeah, it was." & we all just stood there & watched him walk away 8)

Re: Meeting Jerry... advice?
Kind of unrelated story but similar idea... I live in Maine (so of course there are very few shows, etc here) and a few years ago while I was in college there was an independent film festival about half an hour away from our college. Two of my friends really wanted to go see this film that was playing... the film topic sounded interesting, so I went with them. We watched the film and the director took questions/suggestions afterwards. As we left, my friend asked him a question and we all introduced ourselves briefly as we walked out. I didn't understand why there were a *TON* of photographers taking pictures of us as we walked out with this director... as we were walking out into the parking lot, I said to my friends "that film was really good. I wonder what else that director has done," and my friends turned and looked at me like I had grown three heads or something. She responded "Ummm.... that was Jonathan Demme" and I looked at her really blankly and said "I think I know that name from somewhere". She then added "you know... he directed 'Silence of the Lambs'?" Doh!

Re: Meeting Jerry... advice?
The only time I've ever run into someone even semi-famous (It was a Sonics basketball player) I had no idea who he was and elbowed him out of my way because he was blocking my path. Oooopss.

Re: Meeting Jerry... advice?
I love those stories. It's so true though! Unfortunately back in March, no one noticed Mike Inez walking around the Showboat except for me I guess that worked to my advantage... I know someone who was in AC back in the 80s just hitting the slots and talking to some guy next to her who she had no idea was actually Ritchie Sambora Then in the casino over the loudspeaker they asked for the Bon Jovi bandmembers and that's when he got up and left and she realized who he was
