Do we have anything in common besides our taste in music? Monogamy or there's plenty for everyone? Movies or TV? Beer out of a can or cocktail w/straw?

i work in an opthalmology office.  I don't have to deal with the drs all that much though, so that is why i still like my job.

Ok, that makes sense. It seems like that would be a good job.

I work in a hospital. Not all, but a very large percentage of the Dr's I work around are the most arrogant people you never want to meet. It's so busy and people are stretched to the limit most of the time; tempers tend to run high. It's not a good combination!  I would probably like the office setting much better.

well i got written up today because a patient came into, got mad at me for asking for his insurance cards and then he complained to a tech, and about a month ago i didnt answer the phone friendly enough when one of the dr.'s called three weeks ago.  I think I truly hate that man.  I can't barely remember that phone call, and I think I was sick that day.  My supervisor told me she didnt want to do it, but he was making her.  No one likes him, he is pretty openly having an affair, and his patients often say they are never coming back to see him again.

Quite the interesting thread...my 2 cents to the original questions:

Re: Do we have anything in common besides our taste in music? Monogamy or there's plenty for everyone? Movies or TV? Beer out of a can or cocktail w/straw?

To address the topics that have been touched upon:

I don't adhere to organized religion, or believe in one all-powerful supreme being, though I would consider myself spiritual on some level. I've come to believe (this is just my take on it all) that whatever "god" is, power, love, etc., lies within us. I honestly don't think we understand our potential in a lot of ways.

I don't like TV for the most part. I gave up cable in 1994 and I haven't looked back. I saved up the money that would have gone for the bill to buy a nice bicycle. I guess working nights, I really got out of the habit of watching TV. Most of what's on I consider crap and good writing hasn't gone on for decades, except in a few cases. But those few cases aren't enough to entice me to pay for television. /end TV rant :D.

Monogamy: Hmm, I used to think this was good, but now, not so much. I don't know, maybe I just never "found the right person." I was married, lied to, cheated on and all that good stuff, so I guess I'm a bit sour on it. I think we change a lot in life and being with the same person doesn't seem to fit in all cases. I think the person I would go for now would be a lot different from what I thought I wanted years ago.

Kids: wanted them years ago, but I've long since realized I probably wasn't cut out for motherhood. I like children, though, for the most part. The ones that are total brats...I want to throttle them and their parents.

Interests/likes aside from music: Reading, cooking/baking, needlework, outdoor activities, traveling, red wine, beer, Latin culture/language, sports, writing.

I agree about TV. I haven't had cable for over 10 years and don't miss it a bit! Didn't even have internet until abt a year ago. Just rented movies when I felt the need for visual entertainment.

I still haven't decided whether I will bother with the converter box for when TV goes digital. I don't know if the TV will work with the VCR without the analog signal. I'm sure this is addressed in some FAQ somewhere. I'm just too lazy to look. My TV actually got zapped in a storm, so I haven't watched anything in months (well, except for sports at work). I bought a used TV for $35 from a thrift shop, but it's still at my friend's house because he has to somehow get it to my apartment. It was too heavy for me to lift, so I have to wait until he can bring it over. No great loss, though. I haven't missed a thing, except for watching baseball. I <3 baseball.
