Quite the interesting thread...my 2 cents to the original questions:
Re: Do we have anything in common besides
our taste in music? Monogamy or there's plenty for everyone? Movies or
TV? Beer out of a can or cocktail w/straw?
To address the topics that have been touched upon:
I don't adhere to organized religion, or believe in one all-powerful supreme being, though I would consider myself spiritual on some level. I've come to believe (this is just my take on it all) that whatever "god" is, power, love, etc., lies within us. I honestly don't think we understand our potential in a lot of ways.
I don't like TV for the most part. I gave up cable in 1994 and I haven't looked back. I saved up the money that would have gone for the bill to buy a nice bicycle. I guess working nights, I really got out of the habit of watching TV. Most of what's on I consider crap and good writing hasn't gone on for decades, except in a few cases. But those few cases aren't enough to entice me to pay for television. /end TV rant :D.
Monogamy: Hmm, I used to think this was good, but now, not so much. I don't know, maybe I just never "found the right person." I was married, lied to, cheated on and all that good stuff, so I guess I'm a bit sour on it. I think we change a lot in life and being with the same person doesn't seem to fit in all cases. I think the person I would go for now would be a lot different from what I thought I wanted years ago.
Kids: wanted them years ago, but I've long since realized I probably wasn't cut out for motherhood. I like children, though, for the most part. The ones that are total brats...I want to throttle them and their parents.
Interests/likes aside from music: Reading, cooking/baking, needlework, outdoor activities, traveling, red wine, beer, Latin culture/language, sports, writing.
"Turn off your television. Go do something."
