RMitchell:I caught the McChord show and I wanted to comment about how great this show was.
First, I had no idea that we (Rodeo Teams) were going to get such a great show until the morning of the show. I went to McChord for the Rodeo competition with the McGuire AFB team out of New Jersey. They had live bands each night of the week-long competition but they were all lame. I wasn't expecting much for the last night until someone mentioned Jerry Cantrell that morning. I didn't believe it until I met him (Jerry) before the show started. I have to admit that I was a little shocked how cool and laid back Jerry really is. The band rocked out! I don't think most of the people at the competition knew that these guys were going to be playing until they opened up the set with "Seek and Destroy". That got everyone's attention and they continued rocking the set for about 1 1/2 hours. Of course the AIC songs were a crowd favorite. They played "Would" and "Man in the Box". I was also happy to hear some Cult songs (Peace Dog) and even a Beatles toon "Helter Skelter". Out of all the concerts I've been to this was by far the best one and the kicker is that it didn't cost a thing. I got some great pictures of the show and band that I'll post as soon as I figure it out. If you get a chance to catch these guys in the future I highly recommend it. I'm now looking forward to the Heart Tribute show here in Atlantic City this spring with all the surviving members of Alice in Chains. Should be a great show.
My hats off to Jerry and the rest of the Carboard Vampires. To put on such an excellent show for the military makes me more of a fan now than I ever was before. It's been hard serving in the military (especially since 9-11) but little things like what those guys did make a huge difference. Excellent show!!!
Cool wasn't it? I remember for a week beforehand my husband kept saying "you guys need to come out, "that guy Jerry" is playing there...LOL..he never said "from AIC" because he couldn't remember
what someone had told him...then when I realized it was "Jerry Cantrell from AIC and friends" I was like "hell yeah"!! Good thing I followed up.
Here's the thread about that show.
